- Premier Metal Company was founded and was involved in metal structural steel fabrication activities.
- 1955
- Awarded the Clark Michigan and Detroit Diesel engine franchises.
- 1958
- Awarded the Clark forklift franchise.
- 1968
- Awarded the Grove Crane franchise
- 1973
- Awarded Euclid dump truck franchise
- 1984
- A watershed year in that the company obtained the franchise for Hitachi Excavators
- 1985
- The company was renamed in August 1985 to Premier Equipment Company Ltd, as a result of the acquisition of the Volvo and Coles Cranes franchises.
- 1998
- Hitachi Construction Machinery Co. Ltd acquired 100% of Premier Equipment Company and renamed it Hitachi Construction Machinery Southern Africa Co. Ltd.
