One project in particular has attracted Considerable attention. Basrah Province Covers an area of 19,070 square kilo-meters and is populated with well over1.7million citizens.

The restoration project of Al Swaib Farm in Basrah Province on the left bank of the Tigris River involves reclaiming 20,000 donums, (1 donum equals 2500 square meters) of riverbed and canal. MA 200 is expanding the canal and stabilizing marsh growth by dredging sand and clearing debris in this strategic tributary of the Tigris-Euphrates River System. MOWR officials commented on Hitachi’s latest model of the Marsh Amphibious Excavator. “Hitachi MA 200 is durable. With temperatures reaching 55 degrees Celsius, it remains dependable and trouble-free requiring minimal maintenance, and it is very low in fuel consumption. MA 200 can work 8 hours straight non-stop.”

The Tigris and Euphrates River System is the main water supply source running southeast of Iraq. Before 1970, the Tigis-Euphrates basin once covered up to 20,000 square kilometers, but shocking reports reveal today up to 90% of the marshlands have been destroyed.

Hitachi machinery's participation in the restoration project of Al Swaib Farm in Basrah Province is a milestone breakthrough for Japan and Iraq. Mr. Basim H. Zgayir experience with Iraqi business and his complete knowledge of Hitachi Machinery has created a vital bridge of communication between Japan and Iraq. “Our goal is to render long lasting and enjoyable relations with generations of managers and decision makers in Iraq,” said Zgayir. This innovative and savvy CEO has brought together two very unique countries. Japan and Iraq have begun their journey, and the world will witness Zgayir's Bridge to be strong and expansive bringing uplifting change to the lives of many.
