Conducting information security self-check
There were many leak incidents of personal information and confidential information at many companies in recent years, some of which became social problems. Internal control requires improvements in the management level of information security. Our group has also experienced some information security problems, such as theft and loss of personal computers and the information devices.
In fiscal 2008, we conducted information security self-check as the first step to improve the security level at our divisions, and group companies in Japan in January 2009. The purpose of the self-check was clarifying problems by revealing the weak points of the current measures to ensure security. Each division and each group company in Japan checked 51 items linked to the protection of information assets, measures against information leak, the proper use of information devices, protective measures against viruses, control of network access, management of contractors, training in security issues, communication at the time of occurrence of an incident related to security, and the handling of confidential documents.
The self-check revealed the need for improvement to some points related to the measures against information leak and the proper use of information devices, so we are implementing measures to deal with such weak points.
