Continuous provision of information security training

Information leak is caused by human intervention in many cases. Therefore, we conduct information security training continuously. In fiscal 2008 we offered an e-learning program to teach information security to all of the employees. Additionally, we organized information security study meetings for information managers and the IT committees.

We provided the e-learning training program from January to March 2009 using training materials commonly used by the Hitachi group. We raised the awareness of the employees about information security once again by having them use the e-learning program to study about ethical and statutory matters concerning information, including information leak, current measures against occurrences of such leak, points requiring special care when taking information out of the office, measures against information leak at worksites, the prohibition of the private use of information devices and the prohibition of unauthorized access.

We held the information security study meetings eight times at our offices and factories to raise the awareness of the employees about information security and to ensure thorough management of information assets. 320 employees attended the meetings in total. At the meetings the participants studied the basics about the prevention of information leak, as well as the work involved in the administration to control lending and taking out PCs and external data storage media, information asset management and security measures for cell phones. We are currently managing lending and taking out of information devices and information assets, etc. at worksites based on the matters learned at the meetings.
