Conducting global production checks continuously

Global production checks are activities to improve technical levels by assessing skills in welding, machining, assembling, painting, quality management, etc. using five skill levels and by providing practical advice for improvements. We started this activity in fiscal 2005. In fiscal 2008 we conducted global production checks four times at our manufacturing division, and at two group companies in Japan including Hitachi Sumitomo Heavy Industries Construction Crane, at five group companies outside Japan including Hitachi Construction Truck Manufacturing, and at two associated firms including Telco Construction Equipment.

The latest checks revealed that the teaching, training and technical levels of the companies had improved. The checks showed again that the technical levels of Deere Hitachi Construction Machinery Corporation are higher than those at Tsuchiura Works, the mother plant. We will focus on raising the technical levels at Tsuchiura Works further in addition to the existing activities.
