Company-Wide Small Group Activity Presentation Meeting held at Hitachi Construction Machinery (China)
We have promoted group activities with the target of efficiency improvements at production sites, and have held presentation meetings for groups to announce their achievements at Tsuchiura Works, the main plant of our group. The presentation meeting has included groups from our group companies since last year to share achievements between our group companies.
This year we held the 36th Company-Wide Small Group Activity Presentation Meeting at Hitachi Construction Machinery (China) on July 1, 2008, to promote the globalization of our group production. This was the first time to hold the presentation meeting outside Japan. Fourteen groups from eleven factories in five countries made presentations, including groups from Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe), Hitachi Construction Machinery Indonesia, Hitachi Construction Truck Manufacturing (Canada), and from five group companies in Japan.

The groups made presentations in a colorful variety of languages, including Japanese, Chinese, English and Indonesian, on the topic of improving efficiency at their workplaces, such as reducing the lead time of large hydraulic excavator assembly and reducing repair coating work by improving distribution. Mutual understanding of activities was possible through PowerPoint documents translated from each language. Our president, Mr. Kikawa, presented certificates of commendation to the groups.

The meeting this year enhanced international exchanges between group companies and departments. We will continue to promote company-wide small group activities because they are important activities to facilitate in raising the employees' levels, which is the source of comprehensive company power.
