Mr. Kikawa, the president of Hitachi Construction Machinery, is active in making appearances in investor relations programs to provide information to shareholders and investors. At the Hitachi Construction Machinery IR Meeting, sponsored by Nikkei Radio Broadcasting Corporation in Otemachi, Tokyo, on November 8, 2008, he explained the accounts settlement of the second quarter of fiscal year to end in March 2009 and business conditions and plans by region.

The enthusiasm of the investors at the meeting was such that many of them had started queuing up at the reception before the meeting started. The way the investors earnestly listened to his presentation made us feel their interest in and expectations of us. In the time for questions, many queries were made about our response to the recent, drastic changes in the economy, and forecasts, including the effect of foreign exchange rates and measures against the volatile conditions. His response to each of the questions helped the investors to understand our current situation and remove doubts.

Meeting hall filled with the enthusiasm of investors
According to the results of questionnaires filled out after the meeting, 169 of the 228 investors indicated interest in investing in us. Some wrote heartwarming messages such as "moved by the powerful presentation" and "thoroughly understood our current situation". After the meeting, filled with the enthusiasm of the 362 attendees, there was a smile-provoking scene when one of the attendees came up to Mr. Kikawa and asked if he could take a photo of Mr.Kikawa, because he was a fan of Mr. Kikawa.
