Summer festival at the Shiga factory
The Shiga factory of Hitachi Construction Machinery Tierra, which develops and manufactures mini excavators, held its summer festival on Saturday, August 2, 2008, inviting employees and their families. It was a hot, sticky mid-summer's day with a temperature of 33.2°C and a humidity of 65%, but over a thousand people (more than the number of visitors who attended the previous year's event) came to have fun at the festival. Seventeen stalls opened on the festival day and people really enjoyed themselves. There were all sorts of events, including tours of the factory, bingo and lottery, which were all very popular at the previous year's festival, and a special event for this year was samba dancing with a band playing the music. The company invited a samba dance troupe and the accompanying musicians from Kobe. They danced in front of the festival stage, and some children happily danced to the samba music together with the dancers.
