Increase in sales of energy saving devices

Hitachi Construction Machinery Trading sells energy saving devices, such as the "Be Next", a controller for air conditioners and freezing machines to cut energy consumption, and inverters for mercury lamps and fluorescent lamps.

In fiscal 2008, they continued to endeavor to increase sales of these products based on the understanding that increased sales of the products lead to reductions in the emissions of CO₂. As a result, they sold 60 units of "Be Next", which is similar to the number sold in the last year of 62 units, despite the drastic deterioration in economic conditions. They also sold inverters to a factory of a tire manufacturer and to other customers. They will make further efforts to increase sales of these products.
