Top Caravan project continues

We started the medium-term management plan called (Soh) 2010 -- for the new stage" in April 2007. To ensure a thorough understanding of the medium-term plan, during fiscal 2007, we put a project called the Top Caravan project into action, whereby three of our top executives visited the main offices and factories all over the world. The project continued into fiscal 2008, and the executives visited 22 offices and factories around the world between May and December. The main purpose of the Top Caravan project is explaining the state of progress of the medium-term plan under the latest economic circumstances. The three executives also explained our corporate vision, safety and compliance, which are the base of corporate management, directly to the employees and exchange opinions with the employees during the project. They also spent a lot of time explaining a booklet called "Kenkijin Spirit" that describes the common sense of values and the golden rule that is respected by each and every one of our group employees (Kenkijin), in order to raise their awareness of the "Kenkijin spirit."

The president, Mr. Kikawa, visited three plants in Japan, namely Tsuchiura Works, Hitachinaka Works, and Hitachinakarinko Works, together with four group companies in Japan including Tadakiko to give explanations to the employees. Mr. Kikawa also went to China, North America and Europe where he gave explanations to the employees of five group companies including Hitachi Construction Machinery (Shanghai) and Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe). At Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe), he talked with the workers.
