The basic ideology of Hitachi Construction Machinery shall be to contribute to the enhancement of social capital and the improvement of public welfare by promoting the spirit of the inauguration of Hitachi, which is "harmony", "sincerity" and "pioneering spirit", and by developing superior, original technologies and products. We shall operate our business justly and openly with a full awareness of being a member of society and shall endeavor to materialize a truly affluent society through efforts for harmony with the environment and constructive contributions to society as a sensible member of society.

1. Global environmental conservation is a shared major issue. Our policy is to fulfill our social responsibility by treating the materialization of an environmentally sustainable society as one of our highest priority issues.
2. We strive to contribute to society by precisely understanding the requirements for global environmental conservation and the solutions for limited resources, and by developing highly sophisticated and reliable technologies and products in response.
3. An environmental conservation manager will promote environmental conservation activities in an appropriate manner. An environmental conservation division will promote environmental conservation activities and ensure thoroughness by means such as strengthening regulations concerning the environment and setting environmental impact reduction targets, and will endeavor to maintain or improve environmental conservation activities by checking whether or not environmental conservation activities are performed in an appropriate manner.
4. We promote global business aiming to reduce the environmental impact at every stage of the life cycle of our products, including research and development, design, production, distribution, use and disposal.
5. We examine and investigate the impact on the environment caused by our business, and implement technologies and materials effective for environmental conservation to reduce energy and resource consumption, properly manage chemicals and recycle materials, etc. in order to reduce the impact on the environment.
6. We strive to conserve the environment by complying with international regulations concerning the environment and the environmental regulations of the national and local governments, and by implementing self-regulating standards as required.
7. Our global policy is to make efforts to implement measures to respond to the requirements of local communities, taking into consideration the impact on the local environment.
8. We educate our employees on environmental conservation from a broad viewpoint and considering society generally, to ensure that they comply with laws concerning the environment and to raise their awareness of the environment.
9. We assess the possibility of environmental problems to endeavor to prevent occurrence of such problems. In case that our business activities cause environmental problems, our policy is to implement appropriate measures to minimize the impact on the environment caused by such problems.
10. We strive to disclose information concerning our environmental conservation activities to stakeholders and communicate constructively with them to deepen mutual understanding and strengthen collaborative relationships.
