Thorough occupational safety and health
Our Occupational Safety and Health Promotion Committee gathers information about labor accidents, etc., that occurred in our group. We are making constant efforts towards accident prevention by devising basic policy and major measures based on the results of analyses of such information.
Basic policy for fiscal 2009
We establish a workplace environment where employees can work comfortably in peace of mind through reduction of workplace risks and practicing safety activities, by raising employee awareness of "Safety First", and proactively promoting daily safety and health activities.
Major measures for fiscal 2009
- Raising safety awareness by constructively promoting safety activities
- Thoroughly conducting the introduction training for new recruit and the persons transfered, and eradicating similar labor accidents
- Enhancing the intrinsic safety of equipment / facilities and work procedures
- Further improving mental health care
- Enhancing compliance
Trends in the frequency of accidents causing worker fatalities and injuries (frequency rate)

Mental health care
The number of working people on temporary leave because of mental problems is increasing in Japan. Therefore fourteen group companies in Japan and we set up the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) in 2007. In fiscal 2008, We made efforts to raise the awareness of the employees about the EAP by distributing EAP leaflets again and by distributing EAP booklets, and training all our managers in mental health management. The EAP is used on average about ten times a month and contributes to mental health care.
