Two service engineers pass highest-qualification test in the skills buildup program at Cable Price (NZ)
Cable Price (NZ) (CPL) regards one of the important issues to increase customer satisfaction is raising the skill of service engineers. CPL devised an internal program called Cable Price Master Technician (CMT) and implemented the program in October 2007 to raise the level of skill of service engineers. After receiving various training, service engineers took CMT qualification tests. In September 2008, two service engineers passed the tests, acquiring the highest CMT qualification for the first time in the company.

CMT has three grades, from Level 1 to Level 3 (Level 3 being the highest). Tests for each level are held once a year. Eligibility to take the test is determined by assessment of day-to-day work. Even service engineers who have passed the highest-qualification CMT test are retested every other year, which means they have to constantly sharpen their skill. Skill levels of service engineers are appropriately assessed in the program, and very skilled engineers are promoted and receive higher pay. In this way, the program motivates service engineers to raise their skill.
Both of the two service engineers who passed the highest-qualification CMT test are working at the Christchurch Branch, which raised the spirit of the people there. CPL will make more effort so that the CMT program takes root as an attractive program for employees.
