Hitachinaka Works employees united in efforts to raise quality

Hitachinaka Works employees are united in their efforts to raise the quality of their products, beginning with equipment transfer from Hitachi Construction Machinery's Kasumigaura Works and Group company TCM's Ryugasaki factory.
Merger of corporate cultures of companies with long histories
Hitachinaka Works was set up in the east of a city called Hitachinaka, in 2007, for the manufacture of components for hydraulic excavators, etc. The equipment needed to manufacture transmissions and accelerators for wheel loaders was transferred from TCM's Ryugasaki factory and the equipment to manufacture large reduction gears, etc., was transferred from Kasumigaura Works to Hitachinaka Works. About 150 Hitachi Construction Machinery employees and 100 TCM employees were relocated to the Hitachinaka Works.
It was the first experience for the employees of the two companies - which both have corporate cultures developed during the long histories of their own companies as well as their own technologies and know-how - to work in the same plant. There were differences between the two companies in production and quality concepts, production procedures and management systems, but their eagerness to maintain a level of quality that will satisfy their users was the same.
Employees from both firms, all of them completely uncompromising in their attitude towards quality, thoroughly discussed matters at all sorts of occasions to maintain and to further improve quality at Hitachinaka Works. Under these circumstances, the slogan, "Let's unite for the same purpose" was created.
Staff are united to raise quality
With the abovementioned slogan, Hitachinaka Works staff are manufacturing products with the same quality management, aiming at satisfying users. Communications are vital to merge two different corporate cultures.
Hitachinaka Works staff are told about the importance of unity in raising quality at morning assemblies for all staff members as well as in training, and efforts are made so that people at worksites become fully aware of that importance. Moreover, the importance of unity in raising quality is confirmed between staff members at small group activities held once a week to maintain quality levels and increase precision.

Significant quality-related improvements were made by overcoming each of the differences in corporate culture and work environment. I believe we can overcome differences through repeated discussion, because what we are aiming for is the same thing. Although Hitachinaka Works is still a developing plant, we collaborate with each other to ensure unity at Hitachinaka Works.
