Unity with one's business partners is the basis for the manufacture of excellent products

Hitachi Construction Machinery Group considers our suppliers to be valued partners. We are aiming to work closely together with our suppliers in environmental activities as well as the development and design of our products for mutual coexistence and prosperity.
Establishing a good relationship with our suppliers
Hitachi Construction Machinery Group values the sincere relationships we enjoy with our suppliers because we want to move forward together with them in activities related to the environment, training, development, improvement, safety and many other concerns. To attain realization of all of the above, close communication is vital, and this communication includes not only the disclosure of information, but also the establishment of mutually trustworthy relationships where we can talk in a straightforward manner and work hard together.
For instance, we have been collaborating with Ninomiya Industries Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of cabs, at both the design and development stages. Mr. Toshio Nataami has to say about the importance of collaboration: "The safety and comfort of our cabs has significantly improved. This is the fruit of our relationship with Hitachi Construction Machinery, allowing us to exchange information with them without hesitation, and to conduct collaborative research."
For mutual development
At Hitachi Construction Machinery we assess our suppliers' management of their factories, maintenance of their equipment and other areas of importance based on Hitachi Construction Machinery's own high standards, which are disclosed. We also strive to raise the level of performance of our suppliers through various systems that provide advice, as well as allowing them to use Hitachi Construction Machinary's various employee training programs.
Hitachi Construction Machinery believes that ensuring the environmental soundness of our suppliers is part of our duty towards the environment, and so we provide the suppliers with support and instruction concerning the environment, aiming towards the goal of having each and every supplier to be green suppliers by the year 2010. Ninomiya Industries started engaging in activities related to the conservation of the environment early, based on information from Hitachi Construction Machinery, and it has already achieved the reduction of emissions of CO2 by using natural gas for the coating dryer, by implementing an electro-deposition coating process that consumes less energy, and by increasing the number of electrically-operated forklift trucks it uses.
Our concept is that the development of Hitachi Construction Machinery is impossible without the development of our suppliers. This concept promotes activities stressing collaboration with our suppliers.
Sincere communication leads to mutual trust

Toshio Nataami
President and Representative Director
Ninomiya Industries Co., Ltd.
The relationship between Hitachi Construction Machinery and our company is a lot closer than most relationships that exist between purchasers and suppliers. I believe that the key to the special relationship is close communication. I want Ninomiya Industries to grow as an independent company with the assistance of Hitachi Construction Machinery, and to improve the level of our technology to the extent that Hitachi Construction Machinery will say, "leave everything concerning cabs to Ninomiya".

Kazutoshi Takayanagi
Purchasing Group, Tsuchiura Procurement Department,
Procurement Division
My task is to convey the requirements of Hitachi Construction Machinery to our suppliers and to convey the opinions of the suppliers to Hitachi Construction Machinery. I manage deliveries, and I believe that keeping promises and taking the standpoint of suppliers into consideration is more important than anything else if we are to build a good relationship with them. I want to maintain these good relationships that we have with our suppliers by respecting them, because Hitachi Construction Machinery can only prosper in our business with the support of our suppliers.
