Hitachi Construction Machinery Group believes that the prevention of global warming, the recycling of resources, and the preservation of ecosystems are the most important issues facing the world today. With our products, we endeavor towards the realization of an environmentally sustainable society and strive to provide services that can contribute to the conservation of the global environment.

• Prevention of global warming

Hitachi Construction Machinery Group develops and offers products that consume less energy and contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions. Examples include the ZX200-3 hydraulic excavator and other electrically-operated machinery.

Ultra-large dump truck: EH3500

The EH3500 has high drive efficiency thanks to the AC drive that converts power to electricity by using the engine to rotate an electrical generator. The reduced fuel consumption contributes to a reduction in CO2 emissions.

Ultra-large wheel loader: L130

TCM developed a hybrid ultra-large wheel loader, the L130, (bucket capacity 13.0m3) with significantly improved fuel efficiency. The L130 reduces energy consumption by using an AC drive transmission and by regenerating energy using a hybrid capacitor.

Battery driven excavator: ZX70B

Battery driven excavators do not generate any CO2, NOx (nitrogen oxides) or PM (particulate matter) during operation. Battery driven excavators generate significantly less CO2, NOx and PM than excavators powered by diesel engines, even taking into account the emissions produced during the electrical recharging process.

• Recycling initiatives

Hitachi Construction Machinery Group develops product such as mobile jaw crushers, which help in the recycling of resources. We also operate component recycling and used machinery businesses.

Mobile jaw crusher, ZR950JC

The ZR950JC crushes debris at construction and demolition sites, and enables the recycling of concrete, rubble and other material.

Component recycling business

We operate a refurbishing business for hydraulic machinery, engines, and other machinery parts. This effort not only ensures the effective use of resources but also reduces waste.

• Ecosystem conservation

Great efforts are made at our plants and factories to reduce the impact on the environment. Such efforts include industrial wastewater management as well as the management and reduction of chemical usage.

Industrial wastewater management

Since the wastewater from the Tsuchiura Works flows into the nearby Lake Kasumigaura, it is managed with a highly sophisticated treatment system that removes contaminants.
