Hitachi Construction Machinery Festival at Urahoro Test Site Quality Assurance Center
Hitachi Construction Machinery Festival took place at Urahoro Test Site Quality Assurance Center (Urahoro-cho, Hokkaido) on October 12. We held this festival to convey our gratitude to the local people and to raise their knowledge of the test center. This is the third time we held the festival since 2005 when we held the first festival to mark the 15th anniversary of the test center. The weather on the day was fine, but with strong winds. Yet more than 1,000 people came to the test center.

There were many attractions at the main festival site, including drawing pictures on a dump truck tire, using an excavator simulator while looking at a monitor, operating radio-controlled toy excavators, trying out mini excavators and wheel loaders. A lottery for children and stalls selling Ibaraki Prefecture specialties, food and drinks were also popular.

Another event was building the champagne tower. Test center staff made a champagne tower with four layers of wine glasses using an excavator. Staff held the glasses with a bracket attached to the bucket and successfully managed to build a tower of four layers. Then, the excavator poured champagne into the glasses. The champagne made dry ice in the glasses sublimate to produce a dream-like scene. The spectators gave a big cheer. No doubt visitors realized that powerful excavators are also capable of making precise movements.

The radio-controlled ZX200 excavator and radio-controlled carrier performed to show part of our remote-controlled engineering work system used in restoration work at Mt. Fugendake after it erupted.
Demonstration of radio control
The main event at the Urahoro Test Site Quality Assurance Center festival was the demonstration at the excavation test site, where we took visitors by bus. At the site, there were a demonstration of the wood recycler ZR125HC, a dancing performance by ZX200 excavators and a powerful demonstration by huge dump trucks. Visitors could realize the size of the Urahoro Test Site Quality Assurance Center.

The final event was the lottery to give away gorgeous presents. Surely, local people enjoyed the various events.
