Emergency support for the 2008 Sichuan earthquake in China
Hitachi Construction Machinery (Shanghai), Hitachi Construction Machinery (China) and we announced on May 13, 2008, our group intention to provide support up to a value of 100 million yen, including the company's products, to alleviate the disaster caused by the 2008 Sichuan earthquake that occurred in China on May 12, 2008. As one part of this support package, Hitachi Construction Machinery (China) in Hefei, Anhui, shipped eight hydraulic excavators (five ZX200s and three ZX120s) on May 19.

Staff from the production management department and the general affairs department helped in the work to load the hydraulic excavators onto a train at Hefei station overnight, to ensure that the hydraulic excavators could be sent to the disaster-stricken area as quickly as possible. Thanks to their efforts, the train carrying the hydraulic excavators left Hefei station at 10:00am on the 20th. Mr. Zhang Xiao Lin, the deputy mayor of Hefei, came to pay tribute to the employees working to load the hydraulic excavators from 8:00pm.

The hydraulic excavators that the staff spent a whole day to ship to Sichuan are being used in the disaster-stricken area to help in the work of restoration. In the case of natural disasters, such as large earthquakes, we will provide supports as quickly as possible by making use of our product feature.
