Extensive support for an incorporated NPO, Good Earth Japan
An NPO, Good Earth Japan(GEJ), was established in March 2007 to help local people to become independent by effectively using mine clearance land. We fully support GEJ in favor of the purpose of their activities.

Mr. Amemiya, president of Yamnashi Hitachi Constructon Machinery, and children
We have been developing demining equipment with Yamanashi Hitachi Construction Machinery to share the strong passion of Mr. Amemiya, president of Yamanashi Hitachi Construction Machinery to restore land where children can play barefoot. The aim of developing demining equipment is getting rid of landmines safely and effectively. Our final purpose is that local people become independent on the peaceful land which is made by demining equipment, and children can learn and play with smiles.
There is still the situation in Cambodia that local people cannot become independent only by demining landmines. It is mainly because agricultural skill was not handed on to the next generation due to the long-lasting civil war, etc, and agricultural infrastructure is not enough. Some local people sow seeds directly to the paddy fields instead of transplanting rice seedlings. GEJ was established to help these local people become independent.

Demining equipment working in Cambodia
In April, GEJ actually started activities in Slap Pang village, Battambang province, Cambodia. Their activities consist of diverse projects including agricultural training, improving farming infrastructure, and school construction. The village was a large minefield until 2003. They are far from being self suffient. So they are making ends meet by working away from home. In addition, the school they built by themselves has only a tin roof, no walls. So during rainy season, rain blows in, disrupting classes. The main purpose of GEJ is helping the villagers of Slap Pang village to become independent and establishing an environment where all children can learn and play with smiles.
