Supporting the activity of an incorporated NPO, "TABLE FOR TWO International"

There are about 6.7 billion people in the world. It is said a billion people of them are poor and canft take enough food and nutrition. On the other hand, almost the same number of people in the advanced countries are said to be suffering obesity and adult disease by food satiation. An incorporated NPO, "TABLE FOR TWO International" ( referred to TFT below) is conducting the activities aiming to solve the food imbalance above and make people of advanced countries and developing countries healthy.

In particular TFT makes the system in which healthy menu is served at the cafeteria of companies or organizations and is priced 20 yen higher than it should be. If employees choose the healthy menu in this system, they donate 20 yen automatically. TFT sends this amount of money to Africa, which is used for food service to local children. 20 yen is the cost of a meal, so people donate a meal and can contribute to society without thinking about it, every time they choose the healthy menu.

We started serving the healthy menu at the cafeteria of Nanrinkan building in February, 2008 to support TFT. When we asked the employees who chose healthy menu about TFT, many of them knew about TFT's activities. But some employee didn't know about it. None the less they chose the healthy menu because they liked it. It seems that the healthy menu became the ordinary menu since its price and taste are as satisfactory as other menus. In 2008 our employees ate 4,421 meals, which mean the donation of 88,420 yen. This is equivalent to food service to 12 children for a year.

It is important for us to make our healthy menu attractive including taste and price when we support TFT. Regarding the menu, Nikkyo Create Ltd., who we commission the operation of the cafeteria to, made efforts to supply us with healthy box lunch, healthy ramen, soybean curds as the healthy menu. They made 20 kinds of healthy box lunch including meat loaf, fried pork with oyster sauce flavor for 4 week. Thanks to their efforts, our employees can enjoy many kinds of menus and satisfy the taste of the menus. Now only ten box lunches are served. So box lunches are sold out quickly. They will increase the number of box lunches.

In addition, Ms. Sano, a nutritionist, cooperated with the preparation for the decor of TFT.

Only one and half years have passed since we started supporting TFT. We will continue this support as social contribution our employees can participate casually.

A message from Mr. Kogure, a director-general of TFT

Dear all members of Hitachi Construction Machinery. I'm Kogure, a director-general of TFT. We started the social campaign 2 years ago with a passion for the solution to the fact that there are starving people and obese people on the earth at the same time. Now many cafeterias at companies, public offices, universities, and hospitals introduced our systems. Some convenience stores also introduced our system. You are actively addressing CSR such as the support to the demining activities, and took part in TFT activities very early among companies in Japan. To spread our campaign nationwide and, what is more, all over world, we need your further support. So your continued support will be appreciated.

Mr. Masahisa Kogure, a director-general of TFT
