Hitachi Construction Machinery Festival crowded with visitors

The 5th Hitachi Construction Machinery Festival was held at Tsuchiura Works on November 9. This festival is held annually to thank the local people and to raise their knowledge of Tsuchiura Works. Although it was a cloudy and chilly day, the festival was very well attended, with about 5,000 visitors, just like last year.

We arranged various attractions including the plant tour using a bus and carts for the enjoyment of visitors at the festival this year.

We publicized our activities for demining using panels and videos, and displayed demining equipment near the entrance. The chance to sit in the operation cab of the demining equipment was so popular that families with children had to wait in line. In front of the convention hall, we displayed the chemical fire engine we bought this year. It was also attracting a crowd.

The chemical fire engine was also popular

The Kids' Excavator Zone where children were allowed to operate a small excavator was crowded, as in previous festivals. Children tried to pick up toy fish using a small excavator with the help of the kind, young employees of Hitachi Construction Machinery REC. Mothers and fathers took photos of their children happily operating the excavator. There were also queues for the charity game zone. Our employees were so busy helping the children that they had no time to rest. The area, where specialties of Urahoro in Hokkaido and other items were sold, was also popular. There was a particularly long queue to buy potatoes sold by the bag, as buyers were allowed to cram as many potatoes as they could into a bag. Visitors enjoyed free miso soup with pork and vegetables.

The band performances - a regular event at the festival - featured the Shimoinayoshi Elementary School brass band and Kandatsu Sango Hayashiren, who played traditional festival music. The Go-Onger show was staged twice for children. Lots of children shook hands with the Go-Ongers.

The final event was the lottery. This year, as always, we could enhance relationships with many local people through the festival with lots of events.
