HITACHI continues its winning ways ..
Fourteen-year-old CALLAN DICKSON is the toast of Port Lincoln this morning following an outstanding finish to the 2006 Supercross Series, which added a National Title to his already impressive resume. With an immense level of local support from his home town in South Australia, Callan and his family have criss-crossed the country this year and produced consistent results at every round of the championship.
Callan Dickson and Team Hitachi
"I’ve got heaps of people to thank for this" said Callan, "Kawasaki have been great and they make such fantastic bikes, my KX250F hasn't let me down all season and I'm so glad to be with Team Green". The youngster also thanked his race mechanic (and Father) Noel for his help and other members of the family who make the trip to each round to support him.
"The team at Ficeda Accessories have also been fantastic this year, helping me out with all my race gear, I couldn't do any of this without them, not to mention the guys at Hitachi who kicked the team off this year and gave me the ride, I really appreciate their help and I'm glad to win this for them".
Hitachi's National Marketing Manager, Dean Mesh commented "Callan is very mature for his age, he manages to stay cool in a crisis and that's a credit to him. He's a great role model for other kids his age and we've been thrilled to have him on board in 2006. Our hope is that he will inspire other youngsters to dedicate themselves to sport and help them to understand that they too can realise their goals, if they give it everything they’ve got".
Gianni Dalle Molle, competing in the Pro-Open class and lead rider for Team Hitachi Kawasaki, also made a big impression at the final round of the Series in Woollongong after a year of nagging injuries to his right shoulder. With a ninth place finish on the night, in front of many more fancied names, he establishes himself as a force to be reckoned with in future years of the championship.
The team was just as successful off the track, with the FREE DVD’s proving immensely popular yet again. The queue to score a disc and an autograph from team riders was stretched to more than fifty metres, as hundreds of youngsters lined up to collect the goodies and meet their favourite on-track stars. Hitachi distributed more than 5000 DVD’s and 2000 posters in 2006.
