Derek Metcalfe of La Trobe Valley Recyclers agrees - he currently runs two custom Hitachi ZX240LC-3 material handlers at his metal recycling yard in Traralgon, Victoria, with another ZX240LC-3 material handler under his operation at Murray Valley Recyclers in Albury.
With the multitude of difficult situations presented in the metal recycling industry, Derek knows versatility is the key when it comes to selecting new equipment. His three ZX240s are run with magnet and grapple attachments, and Derek says the “performance with magnet & grapple [is] far superior to any other machine we have had on site to date”.
Derek says his main factors in purchasing Hitachi machines was the ability to “purchase a factory built unit designed to suit the application.” Hitachi’s ability to provide a complete factory built package - to supply a ‘one stop shop’ service, without involving outside suppliers - was paramount in Derek’s decision to choose Hitachi over the competition.
